With valve manufacturers quoting long production lead times in excess of 52 weeks ex-works, our shutdown planning service offers a highly effective way to mitigate the potential consequences of long delivery dates.

 

Typically shutdown planning places great emphasis on traditional long lead items such as new exchangers, new columns, and replacement boilers etc, leaving products considered commodity items, such as valves, way down the priority list. This is still true for some companies particularly those that rely on MRC Transmark, the largest global valve distributor, to work with their shutdown team.

 

But with increasingly complex metallurgy being incorporated into new valve specifications, enhanced levels of non destructive testing, and evermore stringent fugitive emission test requirements, many supposed standard valves are now nothing of the sort.

 

How we can help:

 

  • We can meet with your shutdown team immediately an event is planned and scope is decided. We will accompany them for a walk through of the unit/s to assess visually and technically any long lead or difficult to source items;
  • We will with partner your team advising where focus should be made, and expedite long lead time orders to meet the schedule;
  • By constantly maintaining an overview of main bulk volumes as they emerge, we optimize our standard stock range for the event; 
  • Preceding the event we will electronically ring fence (ERF) our stock, in the identified ranges found during the planning process, and in numbers which will satisfy demand. This allows us to deliver just in time (JIS) and thereby reduces shutdown stores space requirements and removes shutdown surplus problems after the event;
  • During the event we will issue electronic expediting data detailing all outstanding orders with planned and actual delivery dates, updated weekly. Critical items receive face to face expediting visits to the manufacturers, irrespective of their location, and updated visit reports will be issued;
  • We can, if appropriate and agreed, suppress all certification and hold this to produce data dossiers which can be presented after the event. We will also produce weekly or monthly summary invoicing where this assists in reducing administration or paper burden during high periods of demand.
